Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack sent formal letters on Tuesday to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Transportation Commission Board requesting they prohibit the tolling of SH 249 from FM 1774 to the Montgomery County line.
“I’ve asked the Governor to do everything in his power to keep FM 249, in Montgomery County, from being tolled,” Noack said. “During his campaign trail, Governor Abbott has stated he will fix Texas roadways without debt or taxes, I’ve asked him to make good on his pledge.”
Noack is now calling on the public to assist him in his fight against tolling the Montgomery County portion of Texas 249.
“I am urging the taxpayers to ensure their voices are heard,” Noack said. “As residents of Montgomery County we must lead, not follow. The taxpayers must insist that TxDOT build, fund and maintain Texas 249, without a toll.”
The Republican Party of Texas platform states in item number 212 under Toll Road Funding that, “…we call upon both state and federal lawmakers to adequately fund our highways without hidden taxes, tolls, or raiding emergency funds.”
Noack is asking for the public’s support to insist the Texas Transportation Commission Board stand with him and prohibit Texas 249 from being tolled and to stand behind Governor Abbott’s opposition of toll roads across Texas.
“The Texas Transportation Commission is appointed by the Governor,” said Commissioner Noack. “I would hope they would honor his commitment to the people of Texas.”
